SMC grows again after yet another takeover

The SMC Group juggernaut has continued to bear down on the architectural profession by its announcement that it has agreed to acquire DTR:UK.

SMC made the news of the takeover of the practice - which is based in Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Birmingham - public today.

However, the deal is dependent upon the performance of DTR:UK and the amount paid for the company will depend on its financial performance up to 2008.

The minimum amount that will be paid for the company will be fixed at £1.2 million.

SMC's chief executive, Stewart McColl, said: 'DTR:UK is a comparatively young team but the principals have worked with me and fellow directors in the past, are well known to us and are respected in our industry.'
