Under the project, the practice will work with the community of Ponders End in Enfield on a vision for the area which will be written up into planning documents for Enfield Council.
'Ponders End has many natural and man-made attributes that many are unaware of or find it difficult to access,' said David West, a partner at the firm, who added that the practice had been appointed on the back of large-scale regeneration projects, including Middlehaven Docks in Middlesbrough and Park Hill in Sheffield. 'Our aspiration is to define an urban design framework for growth that inherently reintegrates the suburban fabric with the countryside on its doorstep. Public engagement, dialogue and participation will be central to our design process to ensure that residents are at the heart of the emerging plans for Ponders End.'
SEW has been appointed as part of a team of multi-disciplinary consultants including AZ Urban Studio, Soundings, Martin Stockley Associates, Davis Langdon and Aterlier. The community engagement project will be launched on 22 January.
