See the dramatic St Pancras hotel fire

These striking images show the extent of the fire which broke out yesterday (24 July) at George Gilbert Scott's iconic Midland Grand Hotel, next to London's St Pancras station.

AJ reader Malcolm Dickson took the snaps of smoke billowing from the building, which is currently being refurbished by RHWL/Richard Griffiths Architects.

Eight fire engines and 45 fire-fighters were called to the scene, and the nearby British Library and Camden Town Hall were evacuated due to fears the blaze might spread.

There were no casualties, but part of the ground floor of the building was damaged.
