Salisbury competition winner announced

Letts Wheeler Architects has won the RIBA competition to transform the Market Square in Salisbury, Wiltshire

The Nottingham-based practice, together with engineer Martin Stockley Associates and artist Wolfgang Buttress, saw off five finalists including Danish urban designer Jan Gehl to win the contest.

As well as transforming Salisbury’s historic Market Square, the winning team will also be asked by contest backers Wiltshire County Council and Salisbury District Council to produce a city-wide public realm strategy.
