RMJM to build new finance HQ in Dundee - images

RMJM has won backing from the Scottish Executive to build a new headquarters in Dundee for finance giant the Alliance Trust.

The government has decided to hand over £1.95 million in cash, under the Regional Selective Assistance banner, towards the construction of a six-storey building on the 4,600m2 site of the former Burns and Harris printworks.

RMJM has already secured planning permission for the development, which will house around 400 Alliance Trust staff in the centre of Dundee - the company's home since 1888.

Alliance Trust Chief Executive Alan Harden said: 'We wanted to keep Dundee, our historic home, at the heart of this expansion, because the city has always defined our independent spirit and provided so many of our talented and dedicated staff.

'This grant from the Scottish Executive will support our plans, enabling us to expand in Dundee as we build a first-class headquarters which reflects our standing as one of Scotland's leading companies.'

Construction work is expected to start in summer next year and is due for completion by the end of 2008.
