RMJM goes back to school in Newcastle

RMJM has been appointed to design Newcastle College’s new sixth-form academy as part of the £160 million overhaul of its campus.

The academy will be the fifth building the practice has built for the college, and will have 12,000m2 of specialised facilities and house over 2,000 students and staff.

RMJM director Adrian Boot said: ‘The building will contain fully-wired general teaching spaces, making the college highly flexible and allowing the creation of innovative teaching environments of varying size.'

Construction is due to start in February next year and the college is scheduled to open in September 2010.
