RIBA holds international business conference

The RIBA is holding an international business conference to introduce practices to opportunities overseas

The Wish You Were Here conference on 8 March will outline markets the Institute believes hold potential for UK architects.

Key speakers will include Fernando Pinheiro, former vice-president of the Brazilian Architecture Offices Association, and Matthew Smith of the Middle East Association.

UK Trade & Investments officials will be at the central London event, as will architects already working in key countries.

RIBA head of international Marcus Deeley said of the conference: ‘You will be able to learn from those who have previously worked within these countries.

‘They will explain the practical issues of doing business, how to access the market, dealing with regulation, getting paid, making contacts, partnership working and much more.’

Housing minister Mark Prisk is due to lead a trade mission to Rio de Janeiro in early March as the Brazilian city gears up for the 2016 Olympic Games.
