Short description:

Two stage open design competition for a new cycle and bridleway bridge crossing the River Douglas at Becconsall near Preston in Lancashire. The client is seeking a fine structure of its time in harmony with the surrounding landscape and one that legibly marks the crossing point. Architectural, engineering, construction and related technical consultancy services. Architectural and related services. Architectural design services. Architectural services for outdoor areas.

Criteria to be applied in the evaluation of projects:
Criteria as stated in the briefing document available from the RIBA Competitions Office (see I.1).

Time-limit for receipt of requests for documents or for accessing documents:
24.6.2008 - 14:00.

Time-limit for receipt of projects or requests to participate:
1.7.2008 - 14:00.

Rewards and Jury
Number and value of the prize(s) to be awarded: An honoraria of GBP 1 500 will be awarded to each team shortlisted for stage two. In addition prize money will be awarded as follows:- 1st: GBP 8 000, 2nd: GBP 4 000 and 3rd: GBP 2 000. The jury panel reserve the right to distribute the prize money in an alternative way if they see fit.
