Revealed: Winners of RIBA Northern Ireland Awards

Four schemes in Northern Ireland have picked up RIBA Regional Awards

Chosen from an initial shortlist of six, the victorious projects include the ‘carefully detailed’ Loughloughan Barn by emerging local practice McGarry Moon Architects (AJ 02.12.13), a home from home for children suffering from cancer and their families by McGonigle McGrath, and Consarc’s restoration of Derry’s Guildhall.

Hall McKnight, which narrowly missed out on the Stirling Prize shortlist last year for The MAC in Belfast (AJ 10.05.12), has won a Regional Award for its memorial garden for the Police Service of Northern Ireland, which the judges described as ‘an exceptional commemorative space’.

Regional winners will be put forward for the RIBA National Awards, with the lucky recipients announced in June.
