Rab Bennetts becomes 'conscience of construction industry'

Rab Bennetts has agreed to join a new construction industry committee that claims it will become the 'conscience of the industry' in the run up of the 2012 Olympic Games.

The founding partner of Bennetts Associates, shortlisted for this year's Stirling Prize for the Brighton Jubilee Library, will sit with other big names from construction on the Olympic Task Group.

The group - set up by the Strategic Forum for Construction - aims to act as a focal point for liaison between the industry and the London 2012 Olympic authorities.

It will especially aim to offer advice on effective client leadership and act as a 'conscience for the industry in its Olympic work'.

Other significant members will include chairman Peter Rogers, of Stanhope, industry minister Alun Michael, Buro Happold chairman Rod MacDonald, Arup director Peter Head and contractor Ray O'Rourke of Laing O'Rourke.
