PRP has won planning permission for this large residential-led mixed-use scheme on the site of Middlesex University in Haringey, north London.
The project - which won approval in just 24 weeks - will include 123 residential units and a 10-bed care home.
The £40m scheme is part of a 2.9ha site near White Hart Lane tube station and will include a new sixth-form college, which is being designed separately.
The PRP proposals will include the demolition of a series of unimportant existing buildings on the plot.
Ziba Adrangi, project architect and associate director at PRP, claimed that the emphasis put on design was highly important in securing a fast planning permission. 'Reinforcing the positive character of the surrounding context is integral to our design,' he said.
'We have taken our cue from the terraced houses in the neighbouring streets and have effectively re-invented the terraced concept with our four-storey blocks of flats along the new street.
'One of the most striking features of the design is our arrangement of balconies. These punctuate the facade rhythmically, adding interest and relief, and this is further enhanced by the use of different materials, colours and textures.
'The generous balconies and windows also help to flood the interior of the flats with light and air,' he added. by Ed Dorrell
