Project Orange has unveiled plans for a chain of 4-star hotels in India
The brief was to develop design concepts and outline proposals for a typical 100-room hotel, which Project Orange director James Soane said would ‘target a younger generation of techno-savvy clientele and create a community hub for guests’.
Soane, who visited the country as part of the UK trade mission earlier this year (AJ 01.03.2013) , added: ‘The design seeks to establish a connection between the traveller and the place by creating a contemporary collage of the country and its’ traditions.’
According to the practice, the design draws upon the traditional market bazaar - a large open space with focal points. The individual rooms have been zoned into areas of activity; sleep, work and play and washing.
Project Orange has produced a design and a set of typical details which will form the basis of each hotel.
The programme will roll out over the next five years.
