Plans revealed for Newcastle's historic Stephenson Quarter

Waring and Netts has submitted plans for its proposed £250 million overhaul of Newcastle upon Tyne’s historic Stephenson Quarter.

The practice is working with Edinburgh’s Malcolm Fraser Architects, landscape architect Southern Green and urban designer Space Syntax on the long-awaited 3.6ha mixed–used development.

The scheme will sit among a gaggle of listed buildings within the city-centre conservation area, which once housed railway pioneer Robert Stephenson’s engineering works and which is credited as the birthplace of the groundbreaking Rocket train.
