Planning win for Fraser Brown MacKenna cor-ten clad classrooms

Fraser Brown MacKenna has been granted planning permission for a new classroom block at Carshalton Boys Sports College, in London.

The £1.25 million, single-storey scheme will replace an existing temporary building by providing eight new classrooms, alongside staff facilities.

The new building will be clad in mesh, with a combination of solid and perforated cor-ten steel and aluminium panels.

The cor-ten panels are perforated to protect the south east façade from excessive solar gains. It also provides a secondary safety function, protecting the building from the adjoining playground and basketball courts.
