Peyton-Jones driven mad at the Serpentine

At the Royal Gold Medal dinner on the 26 February, Julia Peyton-Jones, director of the Serpentine Gallery and mastermind of its summer pavilion series, told Astragal that she has ‘declared war on the Royal Parks’

The Serpentine Gallery has curated a brilliant and astonishingly successful series of pavilions in Kensington Gardens just outside the gallery. This year, they have commissioned Japanese architect SANAA to work its magic, but the Royal Parks has limited the area available to build on.
But it wasn’t that that finally got Peyton-Jones to DEFCON 1. Apparently the park authorities are taking a zero-tolerance approach to parking tickets, and have been threatening the esteemed director with fines should she fail to display a valid parking permit at all times. I’m betting on Peyton-Jones in this battle.
