Olafur Eliasson to rain down in New York

In 2003, two million visitors streamed into the Tate Modern to see his huge sun installation, but now artist Olafur Eliasson is upping the ante.

The Danish-Icelandic mastermind has announced that he is to install four huge, freestanding waterfalls around New York harbour between July and October this year.

The mammoth falls, which will loom some 37m above the water, will appear at sites around the harbour, including one underneath the Brooklyn Bridge (pictured).

The $15 million (£7.5 milllion) project is being funded by US non-profit organisation Public Art Fund.
