Newham design review panel calls for architects

The London Borough of Newham has put out a call for architects, urban designers and landscape architects to join a new design review panel.

The design review panel - which will meet at least three times a year and include urban planners and regeneration experts - will be appointed for an initial two-year term and be allowed to renew its membership once only.

Robin Wales, mayor of the east London borough, said: 'The landscape of Newham is rapidly changing and we want to ensure that new buildings make a positive addition to our skyline.

'The panel will provide expert guidance for planning panels considering major developments, which will result in fit for purpose, aesthetically appealing landmark structures.'

High profile projects including the Olympic Games, Stratford City, Canning and the Silvertown Quays developments all fall within the Borough's area.
