Munkenbeck + Marshall wins planning for Jerwood Space Corten extension - images

Munkenbeck + Marshall has won planning consent for this extension to the Jerwood Space in Bankside, south London.

The £1.5 million plans for the space - which allows theatre plays, dance and musicals to be rehearsed on the cheap by young professionals - will extend the practice facilities upwards.

The practice won the scheme in a two-stage competition, seeing off the likes of Sanei Hopkins and Haworth Tompkins.

The extension is of lightweight steel-frame construction sheathed in perforated Corten steel panels and frameless glass. These materials were chosen to contrast with the existing brick elevations.
