Malcolm Fraser gets behind Edinburgh high school

Edinburgh-based architect Malcolm Fraser has put forward proposals to help secure the future of his daughter’s high school

Edinburgh-based architect Malcolm Fraser has put forward proposals to help secure the future of his daughter’s high school.

Fraser has drawn up designs for Boroughmuir High School (pictured), which is in line to be relocated from its current site to allow the school to expand.

Boroughmuir is among five other schools at the centre of a bitter row between Edinburgh council and the Scottish government over £100 million funding.

Fraser’s proposals, which will show how the school can be redeveloped on site, could force the Scottish government to cough up the cash.

The architect is understood to have the full support of other parents who are fighting to save the school.

‘Boroughmuir parents are aware finding a new site will be enormously difficult,’ Fraser told the Edinburgh Evening News.

‘There’s a realism and people are looking at the school site at the moment and seeing how it can be improved,’ he continued.

‘We’ve talked to the council and had a good reception and also talked to politicians and had a good reception from them. There are several options that we could look at on the site.’
