Latitude wins Atlantic College comp

Latitude Architects has won a competition to design new residential accommodation for students studying at Atlantic College, South Glamorgan, Wales.

The practice saw off competition from five others on the shortlist: Maccreanor Lavington; Buschow Henley; Livesey O'Malley Architects; Graeme Massie Architects; and Oslo-based div.A. Arkitekter.

The original call for entries saw 97 submissions, including 19 from overseas, covering 11 different countries. These included a few former Atlantic College students who are now practising architects.

The design brief demanded that the project should reflect the college's international approach. Designs should, it said, respond to the college's vision of a more dynamic and open environment for student life.
