Kevin McCloud brings his big town plan to Castleford

The first episode in the Channel 4’s series Kevin McCloud and the Big Town Plan, about the regeneration of Castleford in West Yorkshire, airs tonight at 9pm.

The hour-long show – which will be broadcast in four parts and is better known under its original title the Castleford Project (see AJ 10.06.08) – charts the progress of a series of ‘improvement ‘ schemes across the rundown, former mining town.

Over the last five years the cameras have tracked a range of small-scale urban projects by the likes of Allen Tod, Hudson Architects, Martha Schwartz and McDowell and Benedetti.
