Jestico + Whiles wins green light for Camden student flats

Jestico + Whiles has won the thumbs-up for this 54-flat student accommodation block in Kentish Town, Camden, north London.

The scheme for student-focused developer UNITE will also house 400m2 of offices and will replace a former industrial building on the Bartholomew Road site.

Expected to complete in time for the start of the 2009 academic year, the scheme will use ground-source heating and cooling and aims to achieve a BREEAM Excellent rating.

Architect Howard Pye from Jestico + Whiles said: ‘[This] location provided the opportunity for a new challenge to the design team and the UNITE Group, because of the location, its relatively small scale and high environmental aspirations.’
