Jestico + Whiles bags a brace of BSF schemes

Jestico + Whiles is to refurbish two schools under the London Borough of Hackney’s £167 million Building Schools for the Future (BSF) contract.

The London-based firm was selected with Avanti Architects to design and refurbish all secondary schools within the borough of Hackney.

Phase one of the BSF programme will see Jestico + Whiles refurbish Clapton Girls’ Technology College and Stoke Newington School.

The new Clapton Girls’ Technology College will accommodate 1,100 pupils, ranging from 11 to 19 years old, knitting the existing buildings with contemporary additions, while solving circulation issues, and ‘strengthening the campus nature’ of the school.

Stoke Newington School will house 1,500 pupils, with Jestico + Whiles working to improve the existing Brutalist buildings as well as providing a new addition for the school that will ‘inspire pupils’.
