In pictures: North Glasgow College

RMJM’s striking North Glasgow College will be opened today

The 18,000m2 campus, built on a brownfield site in the Springfield area, includes a fully-equipped games hall, music rooms and libraries. It will also offer Springfield’s first conference facilities.

RMJM’s design features a shard-like diagonal arm – already dubbed the Iceberg – which the practice claims was inspired by the Flat Iron Building in New York. The architects say it makes the building directional like a compass and helps embrace the surrounding public spaces.

Inside, the building offers a ‘light’, ‘airy’ and ‘interactive’ learning environment with flexible teaching facilities.

It will be opened by the Princess Royal today.
