In pictures: Artist completes house with slipping facade

Artist and designer Alex Chinneck has completed this unusual transformation of an empty house in Margate

Designed by British-artist Alex Chinneck, the £100,000 installation gives the impression of the front façade of the building peeling away revealing the rooms inside to the street.

The property on a residential street in the Cliftonville area of Margate has been empty for 11 years. Chinneck was given permission to use the house by the local council.

Materials for the project were donated from various construction companies.

This project follows his 2012 installation which incorporated 1,248 pieces of glass across the façade of a factory in Hackney to create the illusion that its 312 windows had been identically smashed and cracked.

The installation will be in-place until October 2014.
