In pictures: AHMM and Hopkins bag Civic Trust Awards
AHMM and Hopkins were among winners of special prizes at this year’s Civic Trust Awards
A total of 32 schemes won prizes at the annual award ceremony which was held at City Hall in Cardiff.
Seven special awards were given to projects which demonstrated outstanding design. The Vine Trust Barge in Edinburgh by Ingenium Archial was awarded a special award for community impact and engagement.
The Michael Middleton award is given in memory of former Civic Trust director, Michael Middleton MBE, and recognises excellence in renovation or new build projects within conservation areas.
The National Panel special prize was given to the Peace Bridge in Derry City, Northern Ireland by Wilkinson Eyre Architects. This award is selected by panel members as their favourite scheme from the year’s award winning projects.
Reiach and Hall Architects’ Forth Valley College Stirling Campus was meanwhile awarded the special award for scotland.
Civic Trust Awards managing director, Malcolm Hankey said: ‘The Civic Trust Awards celebrate not only design excellence, but also the relationship between structures, places, the environment and communities. Winning projects have demonstrated architectural excellence whilst offering cultural, social or economic benefit to the local community.’
The winning schemes were chosen from 263 national and international entries.
