Hywel Evans wins planning for new terraced housing

Richard Hywel Evans Architecture has won planning permission for this terrace of new homes in North London.

The practice has won the green light for the 13 one- and two-bedroom homes and 142m2 of commercial space on a brownfield site, which is currently a carbreakers' yard.

The scheme, for Christfield Estates, seeks to maximise natural light while retaining privacy through the partial use of opaque recycled car-windscreen glazing. Reclaimed brick and timber will also be used.

Views from the adjacent Moray road will be over a planned green roof that will straddle the development.

The scheme is scheduled for completion in 2007.
