HOK Sport wins funding for Ravenscraig sports centre

In the same week as HOK Sport revealed its ‘underwhelming’ Olympic stadium designs, the practice has confirmed it has received funding for its £29 million Ravenscraig sports facility in North Lanarkshire, Scotland.

Stewart Maxwell, Scotland’s Minister for Communities and Sport, has now given the official thumbs up to the regional centre on the site of the former Ravenscraig steelworks, near Motherwell.

The facility, which is part of a larger regeneration masterplan for the area, will house a full-size indoor synthetic football pitch; a 135m six-lane athletics track; a nine-court indoor sports hall; a full-size floodlit outdoor synthetic grass pitch; and six floodlit synthetic five-a-side outdoor pitches.
