Grimshaw dresses to impress in Milan - image

Grimshaw has won an international competition to design an exhibition centre in Milan.

The scheme - called the Garibaldi Building - falls within a masterplan put together by international superstar Cesar Pelli.

The project, which is inspired by the fashion industry, has a functional core for the exhibitions, with its skin draped over it.

Within this 'interior box', which is simple because of the needs of exhibitors, there will be two levels.

This fabric is cleaved down its length in ribbons, which allow light into the exhibition space.
