Foster replaces KPF on City skyscraper

Foster and Partners has been working with Hammerson on a new 30-40 storey tower as part of a huge development on the fringe of the City of London, the developer has revealed.

It is expected that a planning application for a new mixed-use scheme of 79,000m 2will be submitted to Hackney council before the end of the year, to partially replace an earlier consent for a 23-storey office tower by KPF.

The developer plans to incorporate 43,000m 2of office accommodation, residential units, a hotel and public spaces, after it acquired the site in question, Northgate, close to Bishopsgate in London E1, in August.

The developer had initially planned to build KPF's 19,000m 2office scheme, but revised its plans after acquiring more land.
