Forum Insider: final day of the Thames Gateway Forum

Our correspondent at the forum gives an update on Olympic progress, more housing scheme blues and the key regeneration players

London Mayor Boris Johnson opened the second day of the Thames Gateway Forum with a two minute video, apologising profusely for his absence but heralding the regeneration plan a ‘fantastic motor’ that would ‘pull London out of the current economic climate.’ However the ‘virtual’ Johnson could not leave the screen without blundering saying he hoped everyone had a good ‘credit crunch beating dinner this evening’. The dinner had been the night before.

The wine and dining must have been good because delegate numbers were distinctly down.
