Former AJ editor Isabel Allen joins London architecture taskforce

Former AJ editor Isabel Allen is to join one of the most powerful architectural panels in the capital - Ken Livingstone's new Design for London unit.

Just weeks after launching Hab Housing with Grand Design host Kevin McCloud, Allen has been recruited to the Design for London advisory group - a non-executive panel chaired by Richard Rogers and run by Peter Bishop - which supports the work of the mayor's new unit.

Design for London, launched last year, brings together the Greater London Authority's architecture and urbanism unit and the London Development Agency's design team. It also works closely with the urban-design staff from Transport for London.

Allen, who edited the AJ from 1999-2007 and was a member of the prestigious Stirling Prize judging panel, was made an honorary fellow of the RIBA in February.
