Five things to do today: 5 November

Barack Obama - blinded birds - Raphael Pennekamp - James Bond - George Ferguson

SEE the Chicago skyline – including the John Hancock tower – lit up for Barack Obama's victory rally in these pictures uploaded by his supporters last night.

HOPE Obama's illuminations didn't disorient any birds. Chicago has an innovative 'lights out' program, which aims to save migrating birds by dimming the lights on skyscrapers.

VISIT Raphael Pennekamp: Seeing and Drawing at London Metropolitan University's Department of Architecture, 40-44 Holloway Road, London N7 8JL. Pennekamp, a student, died in a car crash this Easter aged 28.

READ why Quantum of Solace has the best architecture of any Bond film (and why 007 destroys any attractive built environment he enters).

BOOK tickets for ex-RIBA president George Ferguson's Brick is Back lecture on 18 November at RIBA, Portland Place, London, W1B 1DA.
