Feilden Clegg Bradley Studio’s shelter protecting the ruins of Chedworth Roman Villa in the Cotswolds has been shortlisted for a RIBA Regional Award
The Bath based-practice’s scheme replaced the existing conservation shelters at Chedworth, which is one of Britain’s largest roman villas, and upgraded a Victorian visitor centre close the ruins.
The £2.2 million lightweight and demountable shelter, which uses the villa’s second century Roman walls as its foundations, allows in-situ mosaics to be seen by the public for the first time since they were discovered in 1864.
