Roll up, Roll up: Feix & Merlin's pop-up roller disco opens
Feix & Merlin’s temporary roller skating rink in King’s Cross has welcomed its first skaters
The demountable roller skating arena, which will be open for eight weeks this summer, has been erected in the West Handyside Canopy, a covered space next to the Stanton Williams’ Granary Building.
Designed for property developer Argent the roller rink can hold up to 100 skaters with five supporting kiosks providing space for food and drinks sales, ticketing and skate hire.
The temporary structure is scheduled to return to King’s Cross for the next two year’s, with plans being developed to take the rink on tour around the UK.
Feix&Merlin are currently working on a second project for Argent, a cafe/kiosk pavilion also at King’s Cross.

‘We have really been able to have fun with this project and I think this comes through in the final design. We’ve used raw, heavy materials, in keeping with the industrial heritage of the area, but we’ve also used gold chainmail and custom light installations to reference the recent past, when King’s Cross was a mecca for clubbers, ravers and yes, even skaters.’
