Mont Saint-Michel causeway opens to pedestrians

Dietmar Feichtinger Architects has completed this 760m-long link connecting the historic Mont Saint-Michel to the French mainland opened to the public today (22.July)

The jetty, which replaces a causeway built in 1879, creates a permanent link from the mainland to the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Standing on 134 pillars, the curved pedestrian link, which has a central roadway for shuttle services, will return the Medieval town to its status as an island.
