McAslan unveils Westminster apartment block

John McAslan + Partners has completed this triangular residential block on Buckhingham Palace Gate in London

The nine-storey building for developer Land Securities close to Buckingham Palace houses 59 apartments, as well as shops on the ground floor.

The Indian red sandstone façade of the building, which incorporates projecting masonry fins, was designed in collaboration with artist Georgia Russell and inspired by ‘the flight pattern of birds and of wind flow’.

The recessed top floor of the building is clad with zinc and glass.
