Hyde + Hyde wins planning for 'secluded woodland' home

Planning permission has been granted for this home in South Wales designed by Hyde + Hyde Architects

The Swansea and Cardiff-based architects has designed the house for a retired couple that are returning to South Wales from California.

Located within a secluded woodland near the Loughour estuary in South Wales the house stands on a plinth to overcome the uneven rural terrain.

Work is scheduled to start on site this winter.

Architect’s view

Kristian Hyde, director, Hyde + Hyde Architects

From various vantage points around the site the home appears as single storey pavilion suspended over the landscape, from others a two storey monolith.

The home celebrates different personalities depending on the ‘micro’ contextual condition it confronts.
