Heatherwick bags Singapore Uni learning hub

Heatherwick Studio has won a competition to design a learning hub as part of the £360 million redevelopment of Nanyang Technological University

The building will contain 55 tutorial rooms arranged in towers grouped around a large central shared space. Each tower is made up of a stack of classrooms that face onto the atrium with gardens placed on selected floors.

According to the Olympic Cauldron-designer, the learning hub aims to ‘break down the traditional square forward-facing classrooms with a clear front and hierarchy, and move to a corner-less space, where teachers and students mix on a more equal basis.’
