Hauser & Wirth gallery opens in Somerset

French architect Laplace & Co has completed the conversion of a farm in Somerset into an art centre for international gallery Hauser & Wirth

The gallery in the village of Burton, is the latest art space opened by Hauser & Wirth, which runs galleries in London, Zurich and New York.

Laplace & Co has renovated the existing grade II-listed barns and added two purpose-built galleries to the cluster of farm buildings.

The public art centre also contains an archive, reading room, restaurant and landscaped garden designed by Piet Oudolf.

A solo exhibition of new sculptures by Phyllida Barlow opens to the public today (15 July 2014).
