Foster + Partners' first Apple store opens doors

Foster + Partners has completed its first project for technology giant Apple, a new shop in Istanbul

The two-storey underground store sits beneath the main plaza at Istanbul’s Zorlu Center, with a glazed rectangular lantern the only part of the building visible above ground.

A full-set of images of the store can be seen on Flickr.

Norman Foster’s practice is also working on a new HQ for the technology giant. The Apple Campus in California, which won planning permission last year, will hold 12,000 employees over four storeys in a glazed ring-shaped building surrounded by trees.

Foster + Partners reportedly took over the job of designing all Apple stores last year, and is currently delivering a second store for the company in San Francisco.
