David Grindley unveils Milton Keynes chicken shed conversion

[FIRST LOOK + PLANS] David Grindley Architects has converted a dilipidated 154m² former chicken shed into a two bedroom home

Shortlisted for a RIBA Regional Award last month, the overhaul of the outbuilding in Bow Brickhill, Milton Keynes sits within the curtilage of a grade II-listed farmhouse.

The combined kitchen and living space, along with the bedrooms, are housed in the original building, where the original 19th century timber trusses and slate roof have been retained. A zinc-clad extension, which projects from the building’s gable, contains a studio space.

Along with the conversion, the once agricultural grounds surrounding the home have been landscaped to create a private gardens with stepped terraces and an enlarged natural pond.
