Chris Dyson reveals Wapping brick extension

Chris Dyson Architects has entered this extension and refurbishment in the Wapping Conservation Area, London, into this year’s AJ Small Projects Awards

The addition at the end of a grade II-listed terrace that once overlooked the approach to Wapping Basin replaces a condemned two-storey Victorian extension.

Constructed from masonry the two-storey extension that addresses the garden contains the house’s entrance and a drawing and the ground floor with the master bedroom above.

All the services were replaced in the existing building, with period features reinstated and refurbished, insulation improved and a rainwater harvesting system introduced.
