BDP unwraps £6.4m timber-clad Waitrose store in Bracknell

BDP’s BREEAM Outstanding supermarket in Bracknell was shortlisted for a RIBA Regional Award last month

The £6.4 million building, developed by the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP), was planned as a standalone supermarket and anchor tenant for the town centre’s wider redevelopment.

BDP’s design features a large sedum roof, an energy centre, an ivy living wall and charger points for electric vehicles.

The store’s elevations are clad with sustainably sourced timber and a canopy runs along the length of the town-facing south façade to provide shelter for the public and reduce heat gain.
