Azman unwraps Suffolk beach house refurb

Azman Architects has completed the revamp of a 19th century beach house in Aldeburgh, Suffolk

The Shoreditch-based practice has turned the derelict ‘two-up two-down’ facing the North Sea into a four-bedroom holiday home.

Along with the overhaul of the internal walls and floors, the staircase has been relocated and rebuilt with a skylight placed above as the ‘anchor’ of the house.

Rooms are arranged around this stair with glazed slits cut through internal walls to allow sea views from the master bathroom and family bathroom at the back of the house.

The kitchen units and some free standing furniture were also designed by Azman.
