APD extends Lochside villa

APD Architecture has renovated and expanded a Victorian villa on the banks of Loch Fyne in Argyll, west Scotland

The Edinburgh-based practice have added a zinc clad extension, with a four metre high glazed wall, to a house situated on a strip of land between Loch Fyne and the Crinan Canal.

The addition’s roof, which ‘echoes the pitch of the existing roofline’, and walls are wrapped in staggered panels of dark grey zinc with glazed panels supported by slim vertical fins to allow for ‘expansive views to the sea’.

Internally the previously dilapidated house has been renovated with an internal wall and portion of the gable wall removed to create an open-plan living and kitchen space that opens into the extension.
