[FIRST LOOK + PLANS] 3XN’s municipal courthouse in Danish capital has been awarded a RIBA EU Award
Built alongside Copenhagen’s neo-classical courthouse, the brick and tile-clad extension houses eight new courtrooms.
The 5,500m² block rises from two stories alongside the existing building, to which it is connected by a glazed bridge, to five storeys in the north.
A full-height atrium lit with skylights cuts through the middle of the building, with courtrooms placed on the lower two floors with office space above and a ‘breakfast room’ and terrace on the fourth floor.
The scheme was one of nine projects to land RIBA EU Awards last week.
