First look: Leeds Rose Bowl takes shape

The AJ can reveal the first pictures of Leeds Metropolitan University’s new £50-million business and law school, which is just weeks away from completion.

The Sheppard Robson-designed ‘Rose Bowl’ in Leeds city centre should be finished in April.

The 10,000m² building sits on a former car park next to the Grade II-listed Civic Hall and Millennium Square. Its central reflective-glass core houses three lecture theatres. Elsewhere there are offices, a restaurant and meeting spaces. A public carpark has been built underneath.

The building also has rainwater harvesting and on-site electricity generating systems. Its sustainability credentials are rated ‘excellent’ by BREEAM.
