Finsbury Park public-realm competition launched

RIBA has launched a competition to find an architect to design a 'major new public realm’ development for Finsbury Park, north London.

The City North Site scheme has been earmarked for a site on the north eastern edge of Islington, adjacent to Finsbury Park Station.

It is hoped that the two-stage competition, which is being organised on behalf of Business Design Centre Group, will act as a catalyst for the regeneration of the wider Finsbury Park area.

The RIBA said: ‘Proposals will need to improve the quality of public spaces, as well as provide a range of land uses including residential, retail, offices, conference space, restaurants and cafes in order to diversity the existing mix of uses.’

Anyone interested in being considered should contact the RIBA Competitions Office for a preliminary briefing paper. This can be downloaded from www.architecture.com/competitions.

The deadline for expressions of interest is Tuesday 29 January 2008.
