Ferguson scoops fund-raising gong

RIBA president George Ferguson has picked up a prize for his fund-raising activities for the Architects Benevolent Society (ABS).

The architectural luminary was congratulated by the Worshipful Company of Chartered Architects late last week for the money he raised completing a bike ride across Cuba.

Ferguson publicly declared his intention to raise £20,000 in sponsorship for the ABS through the trip.

He met his target and the total raised by him and the other ten participants was more than £35,000.

The award was presented at the Worshipful Company's Election Court Dinner on 4 July. The trophy is the third in a series of plates designed by well-known architects; this year's being designed by Terry Farrell.
